Below is a preview of the content that is available in the Grade 11 CAT course.
Click on one of the sections below to start your preview. In Grade 11 we will cover Microsoft Access, Excel and Word. Please note that these lessons focus on the practical part of CAT.
Each section heading contains a sample lesson as it is presented in the main course.
During the lesson, you will be presented with a page containing a video, a downloadable file (where required) and a self-assessment to test your skills.

Open the file that you downloaded for this lesson and complete the following:
- Remove the page break on page 1.
Hint: switch on “Show/Hide” to see the page break.
- Insert a section break before the heading “Common Social Media Features” on page 1.
- Now change the orientation of page 1 to landscape.
- Verify that only page 1 is landscape and that the rest of the document is still portrait.
- On page 3 you will see columns. Insert a column break before the paragraph about “cyberbullying” at the bottom of the first column.
- Verify that this paragraph appears at the top of the second column after you added the column break.
- Insert a page break before the heading “What Does the Future Hold …” below the columns.
- Save the file in your folder for this lesson.

Open the file that you downloaded for this lesson and complete the following in the Athletics Event table:
- Create a validation rule for the Email field to make sure that all the addresses contain the @ symbol. Add appropriate validation text.
- Create a validation rule for the Age field to limit the ages that can be entered to learners who are 13 to 19 years old. Add appropriate validation text.
- Create a validation rule for the DOB field to make sure that all the learners who are competing, were born on or after 01/01/2001. Add appropriate validation text.
- Open the table with the name Learners to check whether you completed the exercise correctly.
- Save the file in your folder for this lesson.
